through its UN Liaison Office in
A number of our members have or until recently had direct connection to the United Nations through their postings in New York, Geneva or Vienna as representative of their respective national diplomatic services, their work as international servants or their activities as members of UN-related non-governmental community.
The DSSG is applying for the consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The areas of our primary concern include the issues of disarmament, peacekeeping and peacebuilding, social and humanitarian questions and issues of human rights. Thus, the DSSG closely follows the deliberations in the Security Council, Human Rights Council, Conference on Disarmament, the First (Disarmament and International Security) and Third (Social, Humanitarian and Cultural) Committee of the General Assembly, Peacebuilding Commission, Alliance of Civilizations, etc.
We are
looking forward to cooperating with the Catholic and other faith-based
organizations with the focus on the UN, including through the International Catholic Organizations Information Center in
